The dot SE country-code TLD was launched in 1986 and delegated to Sweden. During the first years after its launch, the registration process was really restrictive, so a very limited number of domains were secured. Persons could obtain only one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was required, i.e. only Swedish persons, firms and organizations were able to grab a dot SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was liberalized a lot and, as a result, the number of .SE domains has been increasing each year.
